Mangaluru, Aug 10,2017 : The State High Court has slapped a penalty of Rs 20,000 each on city Mayor Kavitha Sanil and MCC Commissioner Mohammad Nazeer for failure to appear before the Court despite serving notices in connection with the case pertaining to the raiding and locking up of the Green Valley Unisex Salon at Balmatta.
If the Mayor and MCC team had recently raided the salon on the grounds that it was functioning unauthorisedly, the owner Francis Kiran Lasrado and Manager Vinoda had moved the court questioning the action of the MCC. The court which had taken up the case had asked the Mayor and the Commissioner to personally appear before the court on August 9, Wednesday to file affidavits. However as they have not turned up the two have now been asked to deposit a sum of Rs 20,000 each in the office of the court registrar.
The Court has asked the two to be present during the next hearing slated for August 13.
The salon owners in their petition had claimed that the Salon was functioning lawfully by obtaining all necessary clearances.
