Students of Vivekananda PU College, Yedapadavu—Shahir, Rizwan, Sadik, and Rasheed—were recently discharged from the private hospital where they were taking treatment, after which they attended the press conference to share their views and experiences.

Jeevan Raj Kuttar, the president of SFI, made a speech. Referring to the Bajarang Dal activists as “communal goondas,” he accused them of assaulted innocent students who were travelling to Mangalore in a private bus. He said that the assault was a criminal offence that ought to be opposed.

The innocent students were going to St Aloysius College to attend a practise sports session before participating in a sports event at Hassan. As the bus reached Vamanjoor, Bajarang Dal activists allegedly assaulted the Muslim boys. The 2 Hindu girls who were travelling with them, Deepika and Shanti, were also assaulted by the “communal goondas.”

He further said that, in spite of lodging a complaint against Sudhakar Yedapadavu, Janardhan, Mohan, Navin Vamanjur, and Deekshit, the police arrested none of them. Instead, they got admitted to the hospital and filed a case against the victims. Later, they escaped from the hospital; and the police have not yet traced them.

Kuttar said that the accused are freely roaming the city without fear of arrest. This proves that the accused have the support of the BJP government, he alleged. The fact that the police have not arrested any of the accused shows that they are least interested in the case. He urged all responsible citizens to oppose this injustice. He claimed that the SFI is going to protest vehemently against the inhuman acts of the Bajarang Dal.

District President of SFI Prashanth Achar; Vice President of SFI Santhosh Bajal, Manoj Vamanjur, Roopesh K, Nithin, Rasheed, Rizwan, Sadwik, and Rasheed were present at the press conference.
