Mangaluru, Jan 31, 2015: A protest was organised by the Social Democratic Party of India in front of the DC office on January 30, Friday to deplore the glorification of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The SDPI leaders also offered floral tributes to the state of Mahatma Gandhi near the Town Hall on the occasion of Martyrs Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Ilyas Mohammad Thumbay, National Core Committee Member of SDPI described the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi as the greatest act of terrorism. He also said the SDPI has also raised a slogan saying “Speak for Gandhiji, Condemn Godse.”
Slamming the RSS, he said even the act of demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992 was an act of terrorism.
Attempts are underway to saffronise text books, he alleged and also deplored the reported plans of some organisations to build a temple for Godse.
M Koosappa, another leader of SDPI in his address charged the BJP of trying to create a rift people people in the name of religion.
Haneef Khan, State Vice President of SDPI, Nawaz Ullal, Riyaz, Ayaz, Iqbal, KA Siddique and several SDPI office bearers and members were present.
