Mangalore, Aug 12, 2014: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has informed that a Rs 320 crore project proposal has been submitted to the Union Minister for Surface Transport with the objective of development of National Highways passing through the district.
Addressing the District Executive Committee Meeting of the BJP held at the party’s district office in the city on August 11, Monday, he said the minister has also assured to solve the problems arising at BC Road owing to the four laning works and also regarding the service road laying.
The MP also said an appeal has been made with regard to the demand to upgrade the NIT-K Suratkal into an IIT and also to form a separate Mangalore Railway Division.
Kota Srinivas Poojari, MLC who also addressed the meeting accused the Siddaramaiah led Congress government in the state of failing to end the impasse over ration card distribution. The government has also neglected the Bhagyalakshmi scheme introduced during the BJP tenure, he alleged.
District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak in his address, said a district level study camp of BJP workers will be held at Subrahmanya on September 12 and 13.
Jeshta Padival, District Organising Secretary spoke on the various activities of the party while Asha Timmappa Gowda, ZP Chief spoke about the ZP programmes. Capt. Brijesh Chowta presented a report on the Yuva Morcha activities.
