Mangalore, August 30, 2011: Unknown thieves decamped with Rs. 3.8 lakh, which was kept in the glove compartment of a Honda Activa parked in the city.

The two-wheeler and the money stolen belong to Kumaraswamy, a contractor of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), who receives contracts to repair roads and other work in Mangalore.

On Tuesday, Kumaraswamy and a labourer called Rajaram went to a bank on K S Rao Road to deposit Rs. 20,000 in his account. He had Rs. 4 lakh with him, but took only Rs. 20,000 with him to the bank, leaving the rest of the cash in the glove compartment of his Activa.
