Mangaluru, Jan 04, 2018: Following the stalemate at Katipalla with the Hindu outfits putting up an adamant stand that they be allowed to take a procession of the body of the slain Deepak Rao, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil who rushed to the spot and spoke to the agitators has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased on behalf of the district administration. The State Government has also announced Rs 5 lakhs from the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
But the Parivar activists are reportedly demanding a compensation of Rs 50 lakhs. It is also said that the agitators are adamant that the Home Minister visited the spot.
City Police Commissioner T R Suresh who was present at there, tried convincing the activists, but they refused to yield.
However, Mr. Senthil arrived at the place to pacify members of the family as well as activists. He said the government was deeply pained over the incident wherein the family has lost its only breadwinner. It should not have happened, he said and added as the representative of the government, he was there with the family.
