Mangalore Feb 4, 2016: School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya felicitated renowned social worker and Padmashree Awardee, Sunitha Krishnan who is also its alumnus on February 4, Thursday. Sunitha Krishnan has been relentlessly working towards rehabilitation of victims of human trafficking.
In her address she said that her education at Roshni Nilaya had played an instrumental role in redefining her vision and mission of social work. "The unconditional love and affection which I have received has helped to heal my hidden pain and ready me to take on the world, she added.
She claimed that till date she has been able to rescue 15,600 girls who would have victims of human trafficking.
She owed gratitude to Philomena D’Souza, Director of Roshni Nilaya who inspired her by giving her an inner strength and instilled spiritual faith which helped in her transformation.
Dr. Sophia Fernandes, Principal of School of Social Work, in her address said that, Sunitha has made a difference is local communities in national and international level.
MSW Dean Rameela Shekar and Director of the College Philomena D’Souza shared their views on Sunitha Krishnan.
