Mangaluru, June 28, 2019: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has informed that the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has assured him of immediate steps to run on a daily basis the Mangaluru-Yeshwantpur train between Mangaluru and Bengaluru which is now operating thrice a week.
Nalin met Goyal and Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi at the national capital on Thursday when he placed the railway demands of the region before the minister.
Some of the other demands placed forth by the MP was formation of a separate railway division for Mangaluru, to provide a full-fledged new building for Mangaluru Central station and to expedite the third and fourth platform construction at the Central Railway station.
Nalin also sought doubling of the Subrahmanya-Sakleshpur railway line, provision of more amenities at Subrahmanya road railway station and to change the timings of the Mangaluru-Puttur-Subrahmanya passenger train and Karwar-Bengaluru train.
