Reservation quota remains the same: A Ahmed

Mangalore, Feb 15: “People travelling from Yeshwanthpur to Mangalore are just as important to me as people travelling from Kannur to Bangalore. I will be the last man to snatch the reservation quota of people travelling between Mangalore and Bangalore,” claimed Union Minister of State for Railways A Ahmed, who had arrived at Mangalore Central Railway Station to inaugurate the Southern Railway Food Plaza. He added that, during the previous month, the reservation quotas have remained unchanged.













The minister said that the railway is not discriminating between different regions. Informing press people that Mangalore, with its long history of railways, has been chosen “World Class Heritage Railway Station,” Mr. Ahmed also said that facilities will be provided to meet the requirements of a world class railway. 

Making a mention of all the railway projects undertaken by the railway department, the minister assured that the project of doubling railway tracks between Mangalore and Shomur will be completed within the next 6 months. Already work on 300 of the 310 km track has been completed, he said, adding that the doubling of the railway tracks will lead to economic development of the two regions. 

Pointing out the importance of speeding up the Nethravathi bridge construction, the minister said that this project has been handed over to another contractor. Work was held up because of certain climatic as well as technical reasons, he informed.
