Renowned theatre personality D K Chowta no more

Mangaluru, June 19, 2019: Well-known theatre personality and writer Dr D K Chowta breathed his last on June 19, Wednesday. He was 81 years of age.
D K Chowta hailed from Meyyapadavu in Manjeshwar of Kasargod district and was known for his contributions to the Tulu and Kannada literary world.
He had authored several Tulu plays. His novels Mittabailu Yamunakka and Kariya Vajjerna Kathekalu are popular.
He was even the winner of the Tulu Sahitya Academy Award for the year 2011. Chowta had served as Chairman of Chitra Kala Parishad and was conferred Honorary Doctorate by Mangalore University.
D K Chowta is survived by his son Sandeep Chowta, a Bollywood music director and daughter Prajna Chowta, a renowned wildlife researcher.
