Mangaluru, Oct 6,2017: Child Rights activist Renni D’Souza has been selected as the President of Dakshina Kannada Child Welfare Committee 2017-20. This should come as no surprise as he has been at the forefront of  Child Rights activism in the region for many years.

As the Secretary and Executive Director of PADI, a Mangalore-based NGO that promotes education to create a just and humane society, he has been closely involved with the schools in the area. As a member of the Advisory Board of Childline, he has been involved with several high profile cases in the Dakshina Kannada region.

He is a member of several committees pertaining to the rights of children. He was the State Convener of Campaign Against Child Labour for the full 5 years. His organization has fought against bonded labour,  have argued for the right to education for all children and have supported many more social causes pertaining to children.

Most recently, Mr. D’Souza’s organization was pointed out several lapses on part of Alva’s institute in the Kavya Poojary case. They made several observationswith regards to child protection in the Alva education institutes.

Given that there are so many crimes committed against children, it is heartening to know Mr. D’Souza and his team are a much-needed pressure group in the city making the interests of children a priority.
