Mangaluru, May 17, 2019: The Indian Red Cross Society, Dakshina Kannada, on May 16,  Thursday said that adequate units of blood are available at its blood bank being operated in association with the Government Lady Goschen Hospital, Mangaluru.

 

blood-bank.jA press release states that there was shortage of blood in the blood bank recently. However, the society conducted continuous blood donation camps for a week and collected adequate units of blood following a generous gesture from donors.

The release said that under A+ blood category, 71 Packed Cell Volume (PCV) units, 127 Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) units and nine Platelet Concentrate units are available.

Under B+, 81 PCV units, 129 FFP units and seven PLTC units are available, while it is 60 PCV, 222 FFP and nine PLTC under O+ category. Under AB+ category, 22 PCV units, 43 FFP units and five PLTC units are available.

In A-negative, B-negative and O-negative categories, small quantities of PCV and FFP units are available, the release said.

The release said that the society would conduct more blood donation camps in the coming days to address the shortage. Individuals interested in donating blood may approach the Red Cross Blood Bank between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to donate blood. For details, call the blood bank on Ph: 0824-2410787 or 24
