Mangaluru, Oct 2, 2016: The Third Phase of the Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan organised by the Mangaluru branch of the Ramakrishna Mission was inaugurated on October 2, Sunday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi at the Mission premises.
Swami Bodhasaranandaji, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission inaugurated the campaign along with chief guests of the occasion including Swami Jithakamanandaji, Head of the Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, Dr. N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC and Co-ordinator of Swachh Mangaluru Project, JR Lobo, MLA, BHV Prasad, General Manager of MRPL and AK Sahu, Director of Finance, MRPL.
As many as 35 Municipal workers of Mangaluru City Corporation were honoured on the occasion in recognition of their services.
The speakers on the occasion, lauded the efforts of the Ramakrishna Mission towards a clean Mangaluru.
During the next 40 weeks, 40 teams and nearly 40000 volunteers would put in maximum efforts to give Mangaluru a complete make-over by making it spotlessly clean. The Mission has also provided all necessary cleaning equipment including brooms, buckets, pans etc to the teams.
A Swachh Mangaluru pledge was also administered to the participants on the occasion.
