Mangaluru, July 11,2017 : DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has taken a dig at  BJP leaders for blaming Congress for the communal unrest in the district.

Speaking to reporters here Rai challenged Union Minister Sadananda Gowda and Udupi Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje to  contest against him and Minister Khader in the upcoming assembly elections.

On Shobha’s allegation that prohibitory orders  were relaxed during CM Siddaramaiah’s visit to Mangaluru, Rai  reminded the MP that  prohibitory  orders were not in force in  Commissionerate limits.

Pointing out that Congress has always strived for communal harmony and unity in the  society, he said the people were aware that communal unrests had occurred in the past too due to the provocative speeches.

Rai said he has asked the Chief Minister to arrest the main forces behind the communal clashes and murders.

Minister U T Khader who also spoke  criticised the Parivar organisations for holding protest despite Section 144.

DCC Chief Harish Kumar, District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, Chief Whip of Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza and others were present.
