Mangaluru, Jan 18, 2017 : Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai could take a firm decision, then he could have very well stopped the implementation of Yettinahole Project. But sadly, he is only interested in retaining his chair," said President of Netravathi Samyukta Rakshana Samithi and former Suratkal MLA Vijaykumar Shetty.
Addressing a press meet here on January 18, Wednesday, Shetty said as a district-in-charge Minister it was Rai’s duty to ensure the interests of the district are protected by prevailing upon the government to shelve the project. But he has chosen to remain mum, Shetty regretted.
He also sought the support as well as time of the people of the district in the fight against Yettinahole Project. Referring to the recent meeting held with the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Shetty said as the meeting has failed to yield a positive result, the Samithi plans to launch a surgical strike against the project from January 26 and added that the details would be divulged soon. He also stated that all elected representatives would be taken into confidence in this regard.
Satyajith Suratkal, member of the Netravathi Samithi who also spoke regretted the lack of support from the people of the district for their agitation. He said the movement against Yettinahole was apolitical.
Monappa Bhandary and Shashiraj Kolambe were also present.
