Mangaluru, Jan 24, 2016: BJP which was in power in DK Zilla Panchayat for two terms has failed to live up to the expectations of the people, alleged District in-charge Minister B. Ramanatha Rai.
Addressing a party workers meeting on Saturday, Jan 23 in city to felicitate K Pratapchandra Shetty, the victorious party leader in the recently held MLC election, he exuded confidence that the Congress would be able to emerge victorious in the upcoming Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections.
During its earlier tenure in the district the BJP had failed to make best use of the grants provided by the then UPA Government , while now it has been unable to secure enough grants from the NDA government , he complained.
V.R. Sudarshan, former chairman of the Legislative Council who is also the party observer for Dakshina District and Oscar Fernandes, AICC General Secretary also addressed the meeting and spoke about the bright prospects of the party in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
