Mangaluru, Feb 23, 2021: The RSS which speaks about patriotism must first explain about its contributions to the independence movement, said senior Congress leader and former CM Siddaramaiah.
He was addressing a Bhavaikyatha Samavesh organised by the party to coincide with the installation of the District Congress Minority Wing President at a function held at Town Hall in the city on February 22, Monday.
Siddaramaiah said the RSS plans to transform India into a Hindu Rashtra was not feasible under the Indian constitution.
Regarding the BJP allegations against SDPI and PFI and the role of these organisations in the KG Halli and DJ Halli violence in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said the BJP which is in power should ban these organisations if they were involved in the violence.
He said the Congress has not restricted its programmes to any one section of the society but aimed at the development of all.
KPCC Working President Saleem Ahmed inaugurated the convention. District Congress Minority Wing President Sahul Hameed, District Congress President Harish Kumar, MLA U T Khader, former district Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, the new Youth Congress Chief Luqman Bantwal, former MLAs Shakuntala Shetty, Abhayachandra Jain and others were present.
