Quarrel between friends over love affair culminates in murder

Bantwal, Mar 29, 2018: A quarrel between two friends in Bantwal over a love affair culminated in the murder of  one of them. The deceased is Yatish (19), son of Narayana of Narikombu.  His body was found at Bunder in Mangaluru on March 27, Tuesday. The accused Shashidhar has been arrested.


murder 2On March 24 evening both friends had been to Innipadpu to watch a Kabaddi match. However when Yatish  did not return, a case of missing was registered in Bantwal Town Police Station.

On March 27,  an unidentified body was found at  Bunder and the same was shifted to Wenlock Hospital. On enquiry it came to light that it was the body of Yatish  from Bantwal.

It is learnt,  Shashidhar had forcibly taken Yatish from his home. It is also said both used to quarrel over an affair with a  girl from Belthangady. Shashidhar used to reportedly tell his friends that he would not spare Yatish who had poked his nose in his affair.

The complaint lodged by Yatish’s father stated that Shashidhar had pushed   his  friend  into the  water and killed him.

Investigations are in progress.
 The general body meeting of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat was adjourned  as the model code of conduct came into effect after the Election Commission announced the date for the State Assembly election.

The meeting, presided over by Meenakshi Shantigodu, though M.V. Nayak, Deputy Secretary (in-charge) of the panchayat told the meeting at noon that no decision could be taken in the meeting due to the code of conduct.

But the members of the BJP and the Congress were busy trading charges against each other over lack of allocation of funds to urgent drinking water projects.

When the BJP members alleged that no funds were released to the panchayat for urgent drinking water projects over the past two years, the Congress members countered it.

Executive Engineer (water supply) Narayana Naika told the meeting that an action plan for ₹8.80 lakh water supply works per each zilla panchayat constituency has been sent to the government. But the government is yet to take a call on approving it.
