Keerthika, an engineering graduate who was married to Giridhar Bhat, a photographer of the town, had shifted to Bengaluru after she secured a job there. However, when her family came to know about her affair with Denson, she was made to quit job and return to Puttur.

It is said even after her return, Keerthika was in touch with Denson through a friend. On September 13, Keerthika reportedly left with Denson. Though the police had been to Bengaluru in search of her they were unsuccessful. It has been gathered that even Giridhar Bhat and Keerthika had a love marriage.
