Public response to Cong poll campaign very encouraging: Poojari

Mangalore, Mar 4, 2013: Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary has said that  the Congress Party had tried its level best to reach every place through a Padayatra to campaign for the party for the ensuing civic polls.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Mar 4, Monday,being the last day of campaigning, he said that in the course of election campaign,  he along with Congress leaders and members have  taken out Padyatras in Sullia, Puttur, Bantwal and B C Road. “In Mangalore, I have tried to visit as many people with a request to elect the right and deserving candidates,”Poojari said.

 

He also said that people’s response throughout the yatra  has been very encouraging and charged the BJP of trying to hinder the campaign at some places by exerting pressure on the police department.

Poojari revealed how during his campaign spree many tried to convey to him that they were still suffering for the folly of voting for the BJP last time.

Commenting on the statement made by Narendra Modi on Rahul Gandhi, Poojari said Modi cannot comment on anyone’s personal life.”He also cannot compare himself to Atal Bihari Vajapayee, as Modi has not and will never reach to Vajpayee’s level,” Poojari observed.

Poojari also made a request to the minority community voters to vote for the Congress. Congress leaders Harikrishna Bantwal, Purandaradas Kuloor and Kallige Tharnath Shetty were present.
