Mangaluru, Jan 17, 2015: State Minister for Medical Education Sharanprakash Patil along with Health Minister UT Khader held discussions with Government Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr Rajeshwari Devi on January 17, Saturday with regard to the proposed Government Medical College in the city.
Dr Rajeshwari Devi informed the ministers that the requirement of 20 acres of land for the proposed medical college can be met if the eight acres of the government land belonging to University College adjoining Wenlock Hospital could be used along with the 12 acres of land belonging to the Hospital.
On this occasion, the Superintendent also informed that the KMC was using the hospital which has 905 beds to provide clinical facility to its students. The Medical Education Minister later told reporters that the Government would study all aspects including availability of land for the setting up of the much demanded Government Medical College in Mangaluru.
