Mangaluru, Jul 09, 2018 : The old students association of A.B.Shetty memorial institute of dental sciences (ABSOSA) who have instituted the Prof Dr N Sridhar Shetty Endowment Fund in 2011 at Nitte deemed to be University have been conducting every year on 9th July the endowment lecture .

This years Dr N Sridhar Shetty endowment lecture was organized by Nitte deemed to be University and ABSOSA  on 9th July Monday 2018 at 10  AM in the gracious presence of Honourable Chancellor Sri N Vinaya Hegde of Nitte deemed to be university. Prof.Dr.Shishir Shetty Chairperson of Dr N Sridhar Shetty Endowment committee in his  welcome address emphasised the role of alumni of A.B.Shetty memorial institute of dental sciences in conducting this annual endowment lecture. The Chief Guest Justice N Santosh Hegde in his keynote address elaborated on the need of Rajadharma (Good Governance) in the present political scenario of our country. He stressed upon the role of the ordinary citizen in preventing corruption. Efforts to end corruption has to come from the top order of the nation. It is impossible for the people to find a solution for this menace otherwise, said Justice Santhosh Hegde. Corruption in Independent India is an issue from early sixties. People are not welcome in government offices unless they go with bribe to please the officials. Former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi has pointed it out by saying 15% of the funds are only reaching to the people.85% of all funds disappear on the way to different pockets. The present Prime Minister Naredra Modi also had made similar statements. Many people at higher offices acknowledge the presence of corruption. Question is not about how many acknowledge presence of corruption but Who can bell the cat is the issue ? The Youth of India only can address this issue and it is possible only through collective actions, Justice Hegde said.

 



 He further stated on the need for effective implementation of the Lokpal bill throughout the country and highlighted to create awareness among the general public regarding their constitutional rights. Accepting the felicitation Prof Dr N Sridhar Shetty profoundly thanked the alumni of the college for instituting this annual endowment lecture and he called upon the alumni to contribute their knowledge in taking the institution to greater heights. Prof Dr Shantharam Shetty Pro-chancellor of Nitte deemed to be University in his Presidential address acknowledged the role of Prof Dr N Sridhar Shetty in building up dental institute of International repute and the role of alumni as brand ambassadors of the college. During this occasion a online web portal of the alumni association was launched and alumnus certificates were distributed. Prof Dr B Satheesh Bhandary Vice Chancellor of Nitte deemed to be university, Prof Dr M S Moodithaya Pro-Vice chancellor, Prof Dr Alka Kulkarni Registrar, Prof Dr Krishna Nayak  Principal & Dean of ABSMIDS were present on this occasion.


Dr Raksha Bhat and Dr Rahul Bhandary compered the Programme. Prof Dr Nithesh Shetty delivered the vote of thanks.The Past Chairpersons of Old students association Dr Kamalkanth Shenoy,  Dr Chethan Hegde, Dr Shubhan Alva and Dr  Subhas Babu were also present.
