Prof. B. M. Ichlangod’s poetic book on Karnataka history released

Mangalore, July 27: Prof. B. M. Ichlangod’s Karnataka Darshana was released at Press Club today by Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of the DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishad.

 

The 62 pages of Karnataka Darshan present the 2000-year history of Karnataka, right from the Mauryan dynasty in the second century BC to the unification of Karnataka in the early seventies, in a poetic manner. 

Speaking on the book, Mr. Kalkura said that the author has introduced the history of Karnataka to readers, adding that even a college student can easily read and understand this book. Stating that the book exhibits the writer’s hold over Kannada language, he said that the book relates the historical tales of Karnataka in the form of ragale, which are difficult to master. 

Prof. Ichalngod expressed his gratitude to everybody who supported him and said that Karnataka Darshana is a collection of 41 poems on the history of Karnataka. He said that experts have already declared that the style of the book is unique. 

Harish Rai, the president of DK Working Journalists’ Union (DKWJU); Jeevan, the president of Kannada Sangha; and P. Mohandas Shetty, the president of Moodubidri Kannada Sangha, were also present during the book release ceremony. 

The book, which is published by the Kannada Sangha of Moodubidri, costs Rs. 50.
