Belthangady, Jan 06, 2021: Over one hundred SDPI activists have gathered in front of the Belthangady Police Station on January 6, Wednesday in protest against what they claim the arrest of ’innocents’ in connection with the alleged raising of pro-Pak slogans during the recent victory celebrations of Gram Panchayat elections.
SDPI Taluk unit President Hyder Neersal who addressed the protestors, alleged that the police had arrested SDPI activists in the case by bowing to political pressure.
Another SDPI leader who spoke said the activists had only raised slogans in favour of SDPI and said the video has been doctored.
The protestors also shouted slogans against local MLA Harish Poonja and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the police in the wake of the protest.
