The Paryaya festival will be held here on January 18, 2016. Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Mutt will be ascending the “Paryaya Peetha” also known as the “Sarvajna Peetha” for a historic fifth time, a first.

No seer of the Ashta Mutts or eight mutts has ascended the Paryaya Peetha for over four times ever since the biennial Paryaya system came into existence in 1522.

CMC Prez, Yuvaraj said that the underground drainage works around the Car Street area taken up by the CMC would be completed soon. Already the patch work and repair of roads had been completed in most parts of the city.

Since this was the fifth Paryaya of the Pejawar seer, many people are expected to attend the festival. Hence, parking arrangements for vehicles would be done on the 3.5 acre land at Beedinagudde Grounds, where ground levelling works were currently on.

Over 15 temporary toilets will be installed at vital locations of the city during the festival.

All these toilets would be connected to the underground drainage system. A permanent toilet complex was already being constructed near the Yatri Nivas. “We will give priority for sanitation during the festival,” he said.

Arrangements of “Horekanike,” where the devotees donate foodgrains, coconuts and others items for the festival, would be held under the leadership of municipal councilors of all 35 wards in the city from January 5 to 7.

The “Horekanike” from the Malpe side will be held on January 5; from the Udupi north on January 6 and from the Udupi south on January 7. The CMC will hold discussions on “Horekanike” and other issues with Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA.
