Owing to the recent floods in Maharashtra and North Karnataka, the price of essential commodities such as cereals, onions, and potatoes has risen. The price of onion and potatoes especially has skyrocketed. 

Three days ago, the price of onion was only Rs. 12/- per kilo. Today, it has risen to Rs. 22/- per kilo. The cost of a kilo of potatoes, which was Rs 16/-, is now Rs 24/- The cost of certain vegetables have also risen. 

Owing to the non stop rainfall in Hassan, a shortage of around 2000 loads of potatoes has been observed. 

The cost of green gram and black gram has also risen to Rs 77.
