President lays foundation for super speciality hospital in Udupi

Udupi, June 18, 2017 :  President Pranab Mukherjee on June 18, Sunday laid the foundation for the  A Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdulla Super Speciality Hospital  to be constructed by NRI entrepreneur Dr B R Shetty through his BRS Health & Research Institute Pvt Ltd.  The foundation laying was held symbolically at a ceremony organised at the Rajangana of the Udupi Krishna Mutt.

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, the President  said he had close bonding with Karnataka  and described Udupi as a great place which has witnessed significant progress. The President also appreciated the efforts of Dr B R Shetty in providing a super speciality hospital to the  city. Emphasising the need for the society to duly respect the medical profession, he deplored the recent instances of assaults on doctors.

Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt,  Ramesh Kumar, State Health Minister, Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, entrepreneur B R Shetty, his better half and many others were present.

Earlier, a warm welcome was accorded to the President when he arrived at the  helipad at Adi Udupi by an IAF helicopter.  Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Udupi District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj, SP  T Balakrishna, ZP President Dinaker Babu, CMC President Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje and others were present.

The President later visited the Krishna Mutt and offered prayers to Lord Krishna.
