Udupi, Mar 07, 2015: As expected the Udupi district administration and the Police Department has banned the VHP leader Praveen Togadia from entering Udupi for one week. The ban order comes two days ahead of the Hindu Samajotsava scheduled to be organised by the VHP at the MGM Grounds here on March 9. Togadia was to deliver the key note address at the Samajotsav.
As Togadia is known for his provocative and inflammatory speeches, the ban was on expected lines as the senior VHP leader was even barred from entering Bengaluru during the Samajotsav organised there a few days ago.
As expected, the ban has drawn criticism from the VHP which convened a press meet and strongly condemned the move.
Suprasad Shetty, District President of VHP said “The decision to ban Togadia from entering Udupi has been condemned by the entire Hindu community.” He also claimed that it has hurt the sentiments of the masses and charged the government of pursuing anti-Hindu policies.
Shetty said as instructed by the administration the Udupi Samajotsav would conclude by 5.30 pm. The decision on who would be the key-note speaker will be taken shortly, the leader said.
