Mangaluru, Dec 24, 2015: State Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader has defended the candidature of Pratapchandra Shetty in the MLC elections and has said that Shetty was given another chance to contest due to his clean image.
Speaking to reporters at Eden Club on December 24, Thursday, Khader also exuded confidence that Shetty would win the elections.
Describing Shetty as an active party leader who has visited panchayats during his earlier term, Khader in a way refuted allegation that Shetty had never attended panchayat meetings, by stating that he was present during one of the visits of Shetty.
On the rebellion in the party with Jayaprakash Hegde and Harikrishna Bantwal contesting as independents, Khader said one needs to be patience in politics. He also gave an instance of his father late U.T. Fareed once being denied a ticket despite him winning an earlier election by a margin of 20,000 votes. His patient wait yielded result and his sincere work earned him a ticket after 16 years, Khader recalled.
AYUSH Conference in Bengaluru : The Health Minister also informed that an International AYUSH conference will be held in Bengaluru from January 3 to 7 under the joint auspices of the Union Government, Vivekananda Vyasa Institute, State Health Department and SDM College of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences.
