Udupi, Sept 24, 2016: Udupi District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Fisheries and Ports, Pramod Madhwaraj met Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Radha Mohan Singh in New Delhi on Thursday and sought more grants for various projects pertaining to his department.
Pramod appealed to the Union minister to release the pending grant for fisheries port projects of the state and also to continue with the grants on a 75 :25 basis for various projects as in the past. He also appealed to the minister to hold a conference of fisheries ministers of coastal states in November or December.
The Union Minister assured to consider the demands as well as the suggestions put forth by the Karnataka Minister.
Devendra Chowdhury, Secretary of Union Animal Husbandry, Dairy Farming and Fisheries, Department, S R Umashanker General Secretary of Karnataka Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department, S Veerappa Gowda, Fisheries Director, CK Murthi, Joint Director of Fisheries and others were present.
