The opposition members of the MCC, including senior councillor Harinath and former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, had urged the MCC to give complete details regarding CDP for the benefit of the middle-class people who have been waiting for the MCC’s approval to begin construction work. Shashidhar Hegde warned the MCC that, if the confusing situation prevails, people will start constructing houses without waiting for licenses.

Mayor Rajani Dugganna said that the issue will be brought to the attention of the Urban Development Minister and cleared at the earliest possible.

Frequent Power Cuts

There was a heated discussion regarding frequent load shedding. Corporators Appi, Jayanthi, Mariamma Thomas, and others complained that frequent power cuts during the previous days has caused a lot of inconvenience to the citizens. They also complained that Mescom has failed to supply power to express lines connected to pump houses, thereby disrupting the supply of water to the citizens.

Abdul Khader, the assistant executive engineer of Mescom, said that Mescom was receiving only 100 MW of power as against the 160 MW that the city required. He assured that things were coming back to normal now, but claimed that the Mescom had never cut power for the express lines. However, Commissioner K N Vijay Prakash said that the MCC had received frequent complaints from the express feeders at various pump houses and that he would write about this to the MD the executive engineer of Mescom.

Shashidhar Hegde, the former mayor, advised the MCC to hold a meeting with the higher officials of Mescom.

Water Bill Overdue

Commissioner K N Vijay Prakash said that consumers owe the MCC Rs 15.5 crore in water bills, adding that the MCC has formed four squads to recover the dues or disconnect the water supply of those who have not paid their bills.
