Mangaluru, April 18, 2015: The failure of the bandh called by various organisations in the state demanding implementation of Mekedatu Project, to evoke any response in Dakshina Kannada district seems to have irked senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary.
Poojary who spoke to reporters here on April 18, Friday urged people of the district to support the cause as the project if implemented would supply drinking water to drought ridden districts.
Poojary further stated that there was a possibility of dropping the Yettinahole project in case the Mekedatu project which would benefit Bengaluru rural, Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts, is implemented.
Choosing to hit out at Veerappa Moily, his longstanding political rival, Poojary without mentioning Moily’s name said he was hell bent upon implementing the Yettinahole project for his own political gains. The implementation of the project would hit hard the district, Poojary further added.
