Mangaluru Apr 30, 2016: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has slammed BJP MP Subramanian Swamy for his false allegation that Congress President Sonia Gandhi had received kickbacks in the Agusta Westland VVIP chopper deal.
Addressing the Press at Congress office on Saturday April 30, Poojary said that "During the late 70’s you (Subramanian Swamy) were absconding after some parties and media defamed you with the title CIA agent."
Manmohan Singh had withdrawn the deal regarding the Agusta Chopper scam which clearly shows that there was no intention of making money."Manmohan Singh had even suggested a CBI enquiry," said Poojary.
"Smriti Irani is the one who interfered in University and FTTI row and politicized the issue which is also shameful. BJP leaders are to be blamed for the rising communalism and for disrupting peace and harmony in the society. The silence of Modi is questionable," said Poojary.
Modi is known for fake promises which are never implemented, Poojary said and added Modi’s promise of creating a Congress free India was an uphill task to achieve.
Poojary was also critical of Rural Development Minister HK Patil who denied the prevalance of drought in the state by stating that "There is no drought, this is just summer and there is water shortage due to the extreme heat."
"Being a rural development minister it is shameful to say that you have not visited any rural areas to know the difficulties faced by the people in getting water in drought hit areas," said Poojary.
TK Sudhir, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Umesh Chandra, Arun Coelho and others were present.
