Poojary flays ruling ministers for misbehavior in assembly

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, July 10, 2010: B. Janardhan Poojary, the senior Congress leader, remarked that ministers have used language in assembly that does not behoove them. He was addressing media persons at a press conference in Press Club on July 10, Saturday.

He also remarked that State Tourism Minister Janardhan Reddy, who is facing charges for which bail cannot be obtained, is not only walking around free, but also attending assembly and the government has failed to arrest him in spite of issuing warrants for his arrest eight times. He requested the election commissioner to take note of this fact.

He also alleged that the BJP is guilty of not only insulting women, but also killing them. He said that, although the words of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani are smooth, the present CM’s words are hurting the people. Urging Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde to demand the powers due to him, he said that an end should be brought to the corruptness of politicians.

Mr. Poojary also said that action must be taken against the chief minister for using derogatory language in assembly just as the election commission has disqualified Vijayalakshmi for giving derogatory speeches. He expressed regret that the ministers’ offensive language has offended not only the legislators, but also the women of the entire state. The opposition ministers’ violation of law by eating food in assembly is not as severe as the use of foul words in assembly, he declared.

Bringing attention to the fact that three ministers have looted the wealth of the state, Mr. Poojary urged the government to file a criminal suit against the ministers who have looted the wealth of the state. Politicians, irrespective of what party they belong must, must be exposed for their involvement in illegal mining activities and should be severely punished, he declared.

Mentioning that 33,96,120 metric tonnes of iron ore in the year 2008 – 09 and 1,05,24,063 metric tonnes in the year 2009 – 10 has been exported illegally from the state, Mr. Poojary said that the Reddys are “worse than Hitler.”

Secretary of DCC Harikrishna Bantwal, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, and Suresh Ballal were present during the press conference.
