Poojary files complaint with EC alleging malpractices during polling in Sullia

Mangalore, April 20, 2014 : Congress candidate from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency B Janardhana Poojary has   lodged a complaint with the Election commission alleging malpractices during election in Sullia  assembly segment.

Poojari, who in his complaint has suspected proxy voting in Sullia has said he had a strong doubt that nearly 16000 votes polled in Sullia might be proxy votes. Poojary says some people might have voted at least ten to 15 times using a single ID card. This might have been the reason for the increased polling per centage (84.42%) in Sullia, Pooojary suspects.

He  has also alleged that despite a ban,  100 to 150 people were seen within a 50 meter radius of the booth though rules say there should be no groups of people within 200 meters radius of the booths.”This had created fear among voters in Sullia” Poojary alleged.

It may be recalled here that   apart from Sullia, Bantwal and Puttur registered above 80 per cent polling. If Bantwal registered 80.52 %.  Puttur registered 82.53% polling.
