Poojary displeased with Ivan D’Souza for holding too many posts

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Oct 30, 2011: When Janardhan Poojary, the former minister and senior Congress leader, criticized Ivan D’Souza, the vice president of the district Congress, for holding too many posts within the party at an assessment meeting organized by the Mangalore South Block Congress Committee under the guidance of the KPCC to discuss an interactive meeting with voters at Kanthi Church Hall in Mangaladevi, things turned ugly.

Stating that new Congress members must work hard and prove their worth before aspiring for posts, Poojary said that Ivan D’Souza is holding the post of secretary of KPCC, vice president of the district Congress, and also election officer. He said that Ivan D’Souza has to resign from the post of vice president of the district Congress immediately so that a senior member could be given that honor.

Poojary also urged Congress activists not to display black flags when Advani visits the city because this would give his yatra too much publicity; moreover, Congress activists could end up getting jailed for the same.

Later Poojary left the venue because he had to attend a wedding.

Addressing the gathering, Ivan D’Souza demanded to know for what reasons he should resign as he had served the party honestly and that he has worked at all levels for the benefit of the party.

MLA U. T. Khader, Mohammed Masood, the former president of the minority community commission, and Congress leaders Arun Coelho and Mithun Rai were also present.
