Mangaluru, Oct 3, 2015 : Senior Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary has said that consequent upon his recent visit to Delhi and his meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the Yettinahole controversy, Sonia has asked the high command to discuss the party leaders to discuss the issue with him.
Speaking to reporters here on October 3, Saturday, Poojary said Sonia Gandhi who was shocked to learn about the ill-effects if the project is impleented sought more details upon which he wrote a letter to her furnishing all details regarding the project. Poojary also informed that he had received a call from Ahmed Patel, Political Secretary to the Congress President on October 1 to know if CM Siddaramaiah or Water Resources Minister MB Patil had called him. Poojari said Patel also informed him that the High Command had asked the CM and the minister to discuss the issue with him.
Poojary informed that while Sonia Gandhi has understood the gravity of the situation, the CM has so far not called him.
The senior Congress leader urged the CM to loo into the details pertaining to the project outlined in the report of the Central Environment Department which has highlighted the damage which the project would cause.
He also requested the CM to look into the issue and added that the implementaton ofthe project would mean cheating not only to people of DK but also the people who have been promised water.
He also stated that political will was needed to end the impasse over Yettinahole Project.
