Mangaluru, June 08, 2018: The biennial election to the Karnataka Legislative Council from the South West Graduates and Teachers’ constituencies has commenced at 7 am on June 8, Friday.
Capt. Ganesh Karnik, candidate from Teachers’ comnsttuency exercised his franchise at the polling booth at University College, Hampankatta. There are 23 polling stations in the Graduates constituency and 14 in the Teachers constituency in Dakshina Kannada.
Twelve candidates are in the fray in the Teachers constituency. They include Ganesh Karnik (BJP), S.L. Boje Gowda (Janata Dal-Secular), K.K. Manjunath Kumar (Congress), Arun Hosakoppa, Aloysius D’Souza, K.B. Chandroji Rao, D.K. Tulasappa, Ampar Nityanand Shetty, B.R. Prabhulinga, K.C. Basavarajappa, M. Ramesh and K.P. Rajendra Kumar (all independents).
As many as eight candidates, Arun Kumar (Janata Dal-Secular), Ayanur Manjunath (BJP), S.P. Dinesh (Congress), G.C. Patel (Sarva Janata Party), Zafarulla Sattar Khan, G.M. Jayakumar, B.R. Prabhulinga and B.K. Manjunath (all independents) are in the fray in the Graduates constituency.
