Mangaluru, Jan 10 2018: Police who took up investigation into the case of alleged assault attempt on Suratkal Hindu Jagarana Vedike Co-Convenor Bharath Raj are now almost certain that the HJV leader had lied regarding the incident and that no such incident has taken place.
City Police Commissioner T R Suresh who himself took up the investigation had taken the complainant Bharath Raj to the spot where the incident is learnt to have taken place. Bharath in his complaint had stated that three men who were hiding in a bush had tried to attack him with machetes at around 7.45 pm on Monday and that he had left his vehicle behind and ran into a nearby house to safety. He had also said one of the assailant was wearing a grey T-Shirt while another was wearing shirt and pant. However, investigation revealed that the place where the incident took place was pitch dark and there was no possibility of finding out the colour of the dress which anyone was wearing.
Moreover, Bharath Raj had not ran away to the house of his friend Mahendra who was nearby but to another house and claimed that there was no one in Mahendra’s house at that time. However, on enquiry by the police it came to light that the occupants of the house were at home that night.
When the Police Commissioner tried to further grill Bharath Raj he has quietly slipped from the spot. Nonetheless the Commissioner has instructed the Suratkal police to further question him and submit a report to the Court. Police are also contemplating action against him for filing a false case.
