Mangaluru, June 26, 2016: Children should grow up in a friendly family atmosphere. Parents, family members and society have the onerous responsibility to see that children do not fall prey to vices, said JR Lobo, MLA of Mangaluru South.
He was speaking after inaugurating the International Day Against Drug Abuse organised at Town Hall here on June 25, Saturday under the joint aegis of Karnataka Jana Jagrithi Vedike, Dharmasthala Rural Development Scheme and Karnataka Rajya Madyapana Samyama Mandali.
Drugs was one of the reason behind the youth going astray in the society, Lobo said and urged the Police Department to tackle the drugs racket with an iron hand.
ZP Vice President Kasturi Panja released awareness stickers. Similarly T-Shirts and hats intended to create awareness against drug abuse, brought out by the Jana Jagrithi Vedike were also released.
M.R. Rangashyamayya, President of Karnataka Rajya Madyapana Samyama Mandali presided over the function. Prof. Vinitha Rai, NSS Co-ordinator of Mangalore University, Mohammad Ismail, President of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagrithi Vedike and others were present.
