Pathunji was suffering from kidney disease. She was taken to Mangaluru in ambulance, but Karnataka Police didn’t allow the ambulance to cross the checkpost even after repeated requests.

This is the second death to occur recently near Kerala Karnataka borders due to unavailability of treatment. A person named Abdul Rahman, suffering from breathing trouble, also died similarly on his way to Mangaluru.

In another incident, a 34-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl in an ambulance after the Karnataka Police closed the interstate border in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown. Guriya Devi, who lives at a rented house at Manjeswar, gave birth to the baby girl on Friday. Her husband Dinanand Saha was by her side as she delivered the baby in in the vehicle.
