Police arrest thieves- Rs. 44, 03 lakh worth asset seized

Mangalore, March 23: Two thieves were arrested in connection with the theft at residence of a famous Doctor A B Shetty in 2009 and Bharath Alva near Padua School, Mangalore, recently. Police have also recovered total assets worth Rs. 44, 03,100 from thieves.

In a press meet held at the premises of superintendent of police on Tuesday, Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao revealed that Ramesh Bikas Bhandary and Karan Kadga alias Kuyitu of Nepal have been arrested on charges of theft at the resident of Dr A B Shetty, and Bharath Alva. 

 

He further said that, the police personnel from Mangalore East police station have nabbed Ramesh Bikas Bhandary of Nepali origin on March 17, 2010. When they interrogated, Ramesh confessed that Karan Khadga alias Kuyitu, Shiv Bhandary, Shailu and Sahadeva were involved in a theft at resident behind the Padua School. According to his information, Police detained Karan Khadg from Kankanady circle, Mangalore. He also admitted that along with him, Shiv Bhandary, Shailu Singh, Sahdeva, Bhista Singh, Raj Kumar Singh Thapa and Narayana Sayi joined their hands to steal gold, Laptop, Binocular. Police seized Lap top, Binocular, gold chain from Ramesh’s house. Total Rs. 80,000 worth assets were recovered. They have also succeeded to seize approximately Rs. 41.62 lakh worth gold and diamond jewels pawned in the name of Kuyitu’s wife Sita at a co-operative society, Tokkottu, Mangalore. Rs 1.61,100 lakh worth gold jewels was further seized from a jewellery shop in the city. 

 

The search operation conducted under the guidance of Gopal Hosur, Inspector General of Police, DR A S Rao, Superintendent of Police, Ramesh, Additional SP, and B J Bhandary, DSP, Mangalore Sub-division.  Mangalore east police station inspector Nirajan Raj Urs N, DCIB police sub-inspector Raghav Padil along woth sub-ordinates assistant sub-inspector Vishwanath Kunjathoor, Narendra, police constables Mohammed, Sheshappa Gowda, Lawrence, Prakash, Yashwanth, Karunesh, drivers Padmanabha and Jagadish were other police personnel engaged in the operation.
