Mangaluru, Jan 14, 2016: Stolen valuables worth Rs 55 lakh including gold, cash, vehicles and other items which were recovered by the Police Department were returned to their rightful owners on January 14, Tuesday. The police had recovered valuable worth Rs 61 lakhs in different cases of thefts and had identified the owners of valuables worth Rs 55 lakhs. The owners received their valuables at a property parade held at the SP office. All the valuables were recovered last year.
Sharanappa, District Superintendent of Police who spoke on the occasion, said steps would be taken to hold such property parade once in three months as per the orders of the DGP.
He also urged the public to take preventive measures to avert thefts and added many thefts occur during the rainy season. People who keep valuables worth lakhs at home can invest at least Rs 50,000 to install security equipment, he added. He also suggested that gold be placed in bank lockers to avoid thefts.
There was also a demonstration of anti-theft equipment on the occasion.
Vincent Shanthakumar, Additional SP, Rahul Kumar, Rishyanth, ASPs and other police officers were present.
Usually the public fail to launch the complaint because they have the feeling that the stolen goods will never be got back as the police never make an attempt to search the thieves. This time the public is wrong.
Thanks to the police department. Done a wonderful job.
