Mangaluru, Mar 27, 2015: April 1, 2015 is not not only fools day, but Rs 10 will be the new ticket charge to enter Mangaluru Central and Junction railway stations/ platforms. But, Rs 5 will be good for an ordinary ticket to Ullal or Manjeshwar stations probably. That’s the minimum unreserved ticket fare. People have already found a way to a cheaper entry to the platform, buy a minimum general ticket for Rs 5, visit the platform see off family or friend and save Rs 5. Further, no one can object your entering the train too.
The railway authorities increased the rate of platform tickets from Rs 5 to Rs 10 from April 1.The ministry also allowed divisional railway managers to increase the platform ticket rate beyond Rs 10 on occasions like festivals, rallies and occasions, to control crowds on rail stations.
A member of the Railway Users’ Consultative Committee, said that it is the ministry’s fault and lacks practical manner. The ministry itself is promoting unethical practices. Indians who are sentimental and also look upon guests as gods it is basic to see off and receive close people. The rail ministry should provide this as a service to travellers rather than as a commercial matter. Any way people can get wise not only in Mangalore, but all over the Indian railways.
