Planet SKS - city’s tallest Apartment Complex all set for inauguration

Mangaluru, March 09; The city’s tallest apartment complex is all set for inauguration on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Talking to media persons Shashi Kiran Shetty, the principal promoter said that this is the tallest Residential apartment complex in Karnataka.

‘Planet SKS’ at Kadri Hills. Off NH 66 is said to be the tallest skyscraper in Mangaluru with a height of 125 metres. The foundation stone of this 171-unit residential complex was laid in December 2010. Anyone dreaming of living in a lavish four-bedroom 6,600 sq ft house or a three-bedroom 3,300-sq ft house enjoying ample light and air on a hilltop has none to match this.

 

 

 

The three elderly ladies who had laid the stone, will do the inauguration as well, said Shashi Kiran Shetty. They women are his mother, his associate Sanath Kumar Shetty’s mother and his mother-in-law.

The project with a cost of over Rs. 175-crore was completed within six years. Planet SKS was built by Larsen & Tubro Ltd., with aluminium formwork technology on a 4.55-acre land, utilising just 10 per cent of the land for the structure. Granite excavated from the site was used for all common areas in the building while toughened glass was used for custom-designed aluminium windows.

It is a green building, having adopted solar and wind energy to light up common areas with LED fixtures, said Sanath Shetty. The building is designed so as to reduce energy consumption and maximise natural ventilation. Grey water is recycled in an on-site sewage treatment plant while 80 per cent self-sufficiency in water is achieved through rainwater harvesting, he said.
