Perdur, 03 June 2011: Hundreds of villagers from Perdur, Bhairampalli, Bellarpady, Shiroor and Kukkehalli protested on Thursday against the accused for sexually harassing the school girls. This protest is conducted after a 10th standard student was raped in a house near Perdur High School by Monu (Iqbal) a married man from Aratekatte on 27th May.

Apart from this case which is already registered in the Police Station, there are more than 10 cases of rape and sexual harassment in this area. Along with Monu, son of a cloth shop owner in Perdur melpete, a worker from a tyre puncture shop and a local resident are all involved in these crimes. The house owner near the Perdur High School is harbouring all these illegal activities.

In the appeal submitted to Udupi S.P through the Perdur Sub Inspector by the protesters, demanded that all these accused are to be taken into custody, a enquiry is to be conducted and the case has to be registered against them. Innocent school going girls are being induced and are being subjected to sexual harassment. The situation is formed such that the parents are afraid to send their children to school. Therefore, Police have to arrest these culprits within 2 days and should save the future of these school children, says the appeal.

Before the protest a procession was conducted from Perdur Temple to Perdur Bus Station. The protest was lead by Perdur Standing Committee President Divakara Shetty, Secretary Purushottama Aythal, Taluk Panchayath Member Nagaveni, Locals Jayananda, Suresh, Praveen Shetty and others.
