Mangaluru, Nov 9, 2016 : With the Union Government deciding to scrap currency notes of 500 and 1000 denominations there was a heavy rush at ATMs with people making a beeline to withdraw cash following lack of accurate information regarding the development.
Hundreds of people queued up at ATMs till late night and many had to return empty handed after the currency notes of 100 denominations got exhausted. Many were seen trying to withdraw Rs 400 cash with the hope of getting only notes of 100 denomination.
Meanwhile, one also noticed heavy rush in jewellery shops and petrol bunks with many purchasing jewellery as well as petrol by paying cash in 500 and 1000 denominations.
