Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Dec 26,2012: Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt has come down heavily on the Nidumamidi seer for his criticisms on the proposed modified form of  Madesnana which is termed as ‘Ede Snana.’

Speaking to reporters at Sri Krishna Mandir, Mallikatte on December 26, Wednesday,  Sri Vishwesha Theertha claimed that  Nidumamidi Seer Sri Veerabhadra Chennamalla Swamiji who had earlier  welcomed the Edesnana proposal was now criticizing the same.

Sri Vishwesha Theertha further said the Madesnana ritual was allowed in the  Kukke Subrahmanya shrine this time only because of the Supreme Court stay to Ede Snana.

The seer claimed that the  state proposed Ede Snana so that the religious sentiments of Hindus were not hurt. If opponents argue that Ede Snana ritual was an insult to the concept of offering  Prasada to the deity,  it would be as good as saying that taking a holy dip in the River Ganga would not only wash away one’s sin but would also pollute the holy river.

The seer said the  Temple authorities would move a caveat in the Supreme Court   and said “ We have faith in the Supreme Court and will hope it will value religious sentiments.”

On the problems posed by the UPCL thermal power plant, the seer said the state government had no time to look into the same and solve it. “People of the region must fight against the project unitedly. I will extend my support to them,” he added.

Commenting on pankti bedha, he said that Udupi Temple and Dharmasthala Temple has both the mass feeding and the traditional feeding system. The people who do not wish to go for mass feeding will opt for  traditional feeding and no one is restricted, he clarified.
