Pejawar Seer sympathizes with protesting PDF youth

Mangalore, March 10: Shri Vishwesha Teertha Swamji, the seer of Pejawar Mutt, visited the PDF youth on Thursday, the 17th day of their indefinite hunger strike in front of the DC’s office and spent 10 minutes with them. The seer was actually on his way to Kasargod from Udupi.

Assuring the PDF youth of his support, he said that he will pressurize the state government to consider their demands at the earliest possible. He also stated that he is aware of how the PDF youth have been deceived by the big companies who promised that they would give them jobs if they underwent training. The seer also received a memorandum from the protesting youth.

Two hundred PDF youth, some who have already completed their training and some who are undertaking training at Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT), are participating in the indefinite hunger strike. As of now, 186 people have already completed their course and 188 are half-way through the course.

The protestors want immediate recruitment for all 186 candidates either in ONGC or MRPG. They also want a written assurance that the 188 youth who are currently being trained will be given jobs as soon as they finish training. They are also demanding a compensation of Rs. 30 lakh each from the companies if they fail to provide the promised jobs.
