New Delhi, July 23, 2014: Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to allow setting up of industries by acquiring agricultural land.
The seer who met the Prime Minister on July 22, Tuesday told reporters later on that he had requested him to ensure that industries came up only on barren land. The seer further said he has also made an appeal to the Prime Minister to refrain from going in for environmentally hazardous projects.
Referring to the Special Economic Zone in Dakshina Kannada which has acquired several acres of fertile farm lands, the Swamiji said mega projects should not snatch away the livelihood of people.
Sri Vishwesha Theertha has said that the Prime Minister has responded favourably and has assured to see that no agricultural land is acquired for industrial purposes.
